The Therapeutic Mentors at Whipporwill support clients as they undergo the processes of self-discovery, empowerment, and healing. We form deep connections with clients on the basis of respect and acceptance and strive to cultivate a community conducive to both treatment and fun!

Clients receive one-on-one support from our mentor staff 24 hours a day, with flexibility for less support as needed. The one-on-one ratio creates a space in which staff can simultaneously show empathy and challenge unhealthy patterns. Individual staffing also allows clients to practice interpersonal relationship skills within a safe environment and learn how to form healthy attachments, hold appropriate boundaries, and relate to others in a meaningful way. Whipporwill mentors provide motivation when it is lacking, flexibility and creativity in problem solving obstacles, a non-judgmental approach toward behaviors, and the support to create and maintain positive change.

The varied personal and professional backgrounds of our staff team creates an environment of diverse personalities, skills, and passions from which our clients can draw from. Our current mentor staff team includes individuals with backgrounds in counseling, social work, art, education, yoga, fitness, and wilderness therapy.

We are highly focused on our propelling our Mentor’s Professional Development by providing Clinical Topic Trainings, Therapeutic Tools & Approach Lessons, Continuing Education Meetings, Growth Mindset Goal Setting Instruction, Peer/Supervisor/Client Evaluation Cycles, Bi-Yearly Performance Reviews, Crisis Intervention & De-Escalation Certifications, First Aid & CPR Certifications, Wilderness First Responder Certifications, Incident Report Debriefs and Coaching Sessions.
